Great American Read - Which are Your Favorites?

We'd like your opinion on which of the 100 books from the Great American Read is the best.  In 2018 PBS held THE GREAT AMERICAN READ, an eight-part series that explored and celebrated the power of reading, told through the prism of America’s 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey)*.  It investigated how and why writers create their fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation and our shared human experience.  A journey through America that introduces our list of the 100 best-loved books and explores the many ways in which these novels affect, reflect and connect us all.  Stop in and get a copy of the list.  Some you may have already read a number of the books on the list and some will be "new to you."  To celebrate National Reading Month in March, we'll hold our first "vote for your best book".  Watch the website for details.

"Put it On Hold, Please"

The Winnefox Library System is trying a new way to circulate materials in the catalog.  Now we have all 30 libraries sharing their materials.  What this means to you is this...titles, especially new titles, may not be here on the shelf, but we can request them for you.  Better still, you can go to the website and "Search the Catalog."  If you need any help with placing holds on any title, stop in and see us.  We'll be glad to help.  To make it a little easier for you, we now have a computer dedicated to the catalog, where you can easily access your account and place holds.
